IELTS口試 – 音樂、色彩篇

  1. 音樂
Q1: Which instrument do you like listening to most?
Answer 1: Well, among all the common musical instruments, I enjoy piano the most. It’s suitable for all types of music, like classical , jazz and R&B music. When it is used in slow music, it sounds calm and relaxing, while in fast songs or music with strong beats, the sound of piano is quite thrilling and often cheers me up.

Q2: Have you ever learned to play a musical instrument?
Answer 2: I learned to play the guitar when I was 12, which gave me quite a lot of fun at that time. The most challenging part of playing a guitar was to use both hands at the same time. Many new learners just cannot coordinate their hands and give up. But I managed to do it. Later on, when I got in high school, I was just too busy with my schoolwork and seldom had any time practicing.

Q3: Do you think children should learn to play a musical instrument at school?
Answer 3: Well, it depends on whether they are interested in it or not. Schools should provide courses on musical instruments for students with interests. As for those students who just don’t care about music, it wouldn’t be a wise idea to force them to learn it.

Q4: How easy would it be to learn to play an instrument without a teacher?
Answer 4: Well, I believe it would be quite challenging to do so. Actually, I’ve tried to learn to play piano by myself but failed. All I had was a handbook containing a lot of graphic illustrations on which finger to put on a particular key of the keyboard. Sometimes there was something I didn’t understand on the book. As I was learning. I was just getting more and more questions, but I had no one to turn to. In the end, I couldn’t continue to learn the next chapter without solving the problems I had for the previous chapter, so I had to give up. If I had a teacher, I could have done much better.

2. 色彩
Q1: What is your favourite color?
Answer 1: I like blue most, navy blue, to be specific, because it reminds me of the sky and the sea and makes me feel relaxed and calm. When I decorated my room, I painted one of the walls blue and bought several pieces of blue furniture to match it.

Q2: What can you learn about a person from the colours they like?
Answer 2: First of all, if you look at what colour they like to wear, you can tell their tastes on clothes. For example, in Taiwan, It’s believed that it’s tacky to wear green and read together. Well, there’s no reasonable explanation for it coz that’s just the way it is. Secondly, preference of colours indicates one’s personality. Generally speaking, people who like warm tones, such as red and orange, tend to be enthusiastic and passionate, while those who prefer cool tones like blue and green are usually calm and have a clear mind.

Q3: Do you any colours have a special meaning in your culture?
Answer 3: Yes, in Chinese culture, yellow is considered the ‘royal colour’. In ancient times, only members of the royal family could yellow clothes, while civilians were not entitled to do so.
